BRIDAL PORTRAITS WITH JAIDEN- Mountain Scenes that take Your Breath Away

Updated: Jun 3

When you have a bride that is adventurous as Jaiden, you start thinking way outside the box.

This bridal session took me all the way to Arkansas, to a quiet and picturesque place in the mountains called Shady Lake. It's a stunningly beautiful small lake, nestled in and protected by the surrounding mountains.

We started by shooting on a pier that usually has summertime children casting their lines into the lake hoping to land "the big one". But, since we were there in October, we had it to ourselves.

After shooting on the pier, we adventured off into an adjacent wooded area where the trees were on fire with fall colors. Setting Jaiden and her pure as snow, white bridal gown, against the colorful background had the desired effect, and was like putting her on Picasso's canvas.

Toward the end of our session, I had one more location that I wanted to shoot, but it was going to be a little interesting accessing. Where the lake empties into the river, is a very old dam of moderate size. There are no water gates, and so the water spills over the top of the dam in one massive sheet of cascading down. The river below the dam then splits through solid granite and flows out into the mountains below.

At the base of the dam is a few massive boulders that were perfect for Jaiden to stand on, while framing her in the foreground of the falls. It took a few minutes to assist her, in her dress, across the boulders, but once set up, oh my.....! It was probably one of my best ideas ever!

We finished our session shooting below the falls and along the banks of the river. It was a bridal session adventure for the books and one that neither Jaiden, nor I, will ever forget!
